THE CURRICULUM AND MORE...

We provide a wide variety of educations opportunities for our pupils, both in and outside the classroom environment. A camping programme operates and each even year 7 and 8 pupils will attend a whole school camp at Camp Columba. On the odd years all students will visit a city to experience a non rural environment Second Language learning options include Japanese, French and Te Reo Maori
Comprehensive coverage of all curriculum areas, will a school wide focus on Reading, English, Maths and Science.
Staff are continually involved with on going, wide professional development programmes.

CLASS PROGRAMMES ARE ENHANCED THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN:

Speech competitions
SMAC Maths – a Southland Maths competition in which Longford has a highly respected record.
Otago University Problem Solving competitions
Australian competitions in Science, Maths, English, Writing, Spelling and computers
Computer communications through email and Internet
Extensive and up to date ICT facilities
Use of our community resources e.g. Public Library, Gore Pool, Ice Skating Rink, sports facilities and Museum
Education outside the classroom including Science field studies, Ski trip, Year 7 and Year 8 Camping Programme
